Youth Engagement Committee – Watershed Connections Event

Youth Engagement Committee – Watershed Connections Event

Posted: Mar 11, 2026

On March 11, 2026, the Nechako Watershed Roundtable’s (NWR) Youth Engagement Committee (YEC) hosted a Watershed Connections event at the House of Ancestors in Prince George. Watershed Connections is an NWR initiative designed to foster youth leadership, collaboration, and action in watershed stewardship.

Participants included students and young professionals from a variety of backgrounds including healthcare, engineering, environmental stewardship, water conservation and fish sciences. Through interactive discussions, team-building activities, and facilitated feedback sessions, participants explored key climate adaptation and resilience recommendations for the watershed and worked to translate them into tangible actions.

The one-day event created space for youth to share their perspectives, build connections, and identify opportunities for ongoing involvement with the NWR Youth Engagement Committee. The YEC will be preparing a recommendations report that will be shared with local leaders at the upcoming Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience in the Nechako Watershed workshop on April 28, 2026.
